Patricia Mullin Art
Some moments in an artist’s career mark a significant turning point. For me, it was having a work accepted for The Artist’s Day Book, with an exhibition at Smiths Gallery, Covent Garden, and afterwards an Arts Council national touring exhibition. Remarkably, my picture was hung next to a watercolour by Sir Hugh Casson, and it sold.
The other is Once Upon a Blue Moon, shown here. It was a departure, and my first foray into the world of exquisite French pastels and gestural mark-making, by cutting through the intense colour with an eraser, granting energy and momentum to the work. Only now, several years later, do I find that a moon, cradled in the rise and fall of landscape, a symbol of my artistic practice, has become the defining motif that states this work is by Patricia Mullin.
